 In an exclusive cooperation with Datar Cancer Genetics, Apollo Cancer Centres, a division of Apollo Hospitals NSE -0.15% group, announced the introduction of a blood test on Wednesday that has a highly accurate early detection rate for breast tumours in asymptomatic persons.

By taking a little blood sample, the EasyCheck-Breast test can assist in identifying breast cancer even in its early stages.

Datar Cancer Genetics, a molecular diagnostics firm based in Nashik, created the EasyCheck-Breast test, which has been given approval in the UK and Europe and obtained breakthrough designation status from the USFDA. The test is intended to find particular malignant tumour cells for breast adenocarcinoma in the blood.

The EasyCheck- Breast was evaluated in clinical studies on 8112 asymptomatic women with baseline cancer risk, BIRADS-1 on mammography, and 217 cases of breast cancer. The test had 99 percent accuracy, 99 percent specificity, and 88.2 percent sensitivity.

For asymptomatic women 40 years of age and older, the test is advised in collaboration with licenced medical professional.

The examination will be an addition to the currently offered self-breast examination, clinical breast examination, mammography, and ultrasound tests.
